i am a custom cabinet finisher en also i have some knowledge on framing houses and now, on millwork.
i have three little girls (6,5,2 years old ) and they have been asking for a playground for the longest time and after finding your videos on youtube i am willing to build this soon. thanks again keep it up

Just so you know.. The sheet of plywood for the rock wall is missing from the materials list. No big deal but maybe it can be added for people in the future. I brought the list to the lumber yard and they were extremely impressed with the attention to detail in these plans. I can’t wait to start this project!

  3. Edmond

  4. Jason Dority

want to order your plans for this swing.

  5. Jessica

What size/brand tube slide did you use? I already have one and I’m wondering if it will work

  6. Zakaria

    Hi..
How i can bay this PDF withe VISA CARD or MASTER CARD?.

    • DIYTyler

You can use either….the transaction is handled by paypal but you don’t need a paypal account.

  7. Dawn D.

The finished product will be slightly too large for our yard. Is it possible to remove 2 swings work of the middle section without compromising the bridge and of so would these adjustments be simple on my end?

    • DIYTyler

Easy to adjust, just cut all the bridge and railing parts a bit shorter.

  8. Dee Negron (verified owner)

My husband and father-in-law used your plans to build this same swing set, but on the plans it has a fire pole and on your video you have the rope and we were looking to use the rope but not sure if you can help with the measurements for that please.

    • DIYTyler

Unfortunately it was something I did on the fly with trial and error. I tried to draw it for the plans but it was an impossible angle to draw in sketchup. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!

  9. will

Before I buy the plan what is the estimated material cost. Deciding if it makes sense to buy and slightly modify these plans or just purchase a factory kit. Thanks.

    • DIYTyler

Cost me $2300 for everything. Cost of lumber has gone up a lot since then though so I don’t really know. BUT since you will source your own wood for this build it will be 100 times better than kit wood which is a bunch of trash.

  10. Jake

I would like to build this swing set, but it’d be in front of a fence. I know the depth is 13′, how far from the fence do I need it to be for the swings? I was going to try to move the stairs on the left tower to the side and not have the climbing wall on the back. Just trying to figure how much space the whole set would take from the fence line, 13′ + swing clearance?

  11. Frank Zanardelli

is there a way to get the material list?

id like to price it out beforehand i dont want to spend too much money if wood has gone up in price that much

i love the videos on this swingset!

  12. Maria

    Hi, hope you are well.
I’m just wondering about the measurements. Did you use the metric or imperial system?
    Thanks a lot.

  13. Gary

I am currently in the process of building this, kids can’t wait for me to finish in order to play on it.
    Here are a few tips:
    – Watch the videos, very well done and you can see first hand what Tyler is doing. Don’t just follow the plans blindly.
    – Unless you cut your wood perfectly, don’t just take the measurements on the plans as gospel. Measure for your project.
    – Monkey bars: plans say 11/16 paddle bit for the holes, this is not true. Need a 7/8 paddle bit for the holes (if you look at the plans in the video it actually has 7/8 bit on the plans tyler is using)
    – Bridge railing – for me (and my kids) it was a very short (only about 2.5 feet up from the bridge floor). I made the 4×4 post match the height of the house/tower 4×4. This makes the the height of the railing around the whole top floor/bridge about 3.5-4ft high. This also does not allow for a roof on the house side, unless you have those 4×4 larger than the material list.
-Bridge railing 4×4 – these are the ones that are attached to the sides of the bridge. After fully installing the 2 6in structural screws, they still seemed a bit wobblely, so I install the 2 angle joint hangers in each sides of the posts (the ones used to tie the bridge into each tower). Now they are solid as a rock.
-Slide attachment – I used 4x4s instead of the 2x4s mentioned in the plans for a little more ridged stability.
-Fencing portion – the plans say use the deck boards, I am pretty sure that is a mistake and is supposed to say “fence boards”

Other than that I really like how this is coming out and so do my kids!

45 year old mom of 10 and grandma of 5 here. I bought these plans (got and paid for 2 instead of 1 somehow) but I built this swing in 7 days 90% by myself. It was the first time I ever did anything like this. Pretty easy build! The kids love it! Even the 20 year old kids get on it with no problem. I would love to post a picture of my version but I don’t see how. Thank you Tyler!

    • DIYTyler

      Tracey,
WOW! Thanks for the letting me know! Please send me a picture to DIYTyler@gmail.com. Would love to see your handy work!

  15. Julia Carvalho

Hi Tyler. I am interested to use your plans to built the swing set but wondering if would be possible having the plans on metrics units. I have never dealt with wood at all (LOL)

  16. Robert GOLTER

    Hey Tyler,

Great swing set and I plan on building it soon.

Quick question, if I have an uneven ground where the fort side would be about 1’ higher then the roof side.

Any suggestions would be super helpful.

    Thanks man!

  17. Elizabeth

I just asked for these plans for my birthday to build for my girls. They look great, but the swings are unavailable on amazon. Do you have any links for other slides that would work?? I’m hoping to give us all some quarantine sanity asap!

    • DIYTyler

      Liz,
If you do a google for a 7′ tube slide from Swing-n-slide I have been able to find them in stock. Might be an issue with the shutdown we are all dealing with….and the amount of these plans that are being sold!

  18. Jared (verified owner)

Bought the plans and getting ready to build. Can you tell me the power tools that you used to build? I’d like to make sure I have everything ready to go before buying all the lumber. Thanks!

    • DIYTyler

The plans link to the build video, would recommend watching those before getting started to save you some trouble. All the tools and some tips to get around not having some tools are laid out there.

  19. Daniel Logsdon (verified owner)

I just purchased the plans for the swing set. Are they sent through mail or am I supposed to download them somehow?

    • DIYTyler

      Daniel,
Either! The plans are automatically emailed but the email can sometimes be blocked by your email provider. Also, after you complete the purchase you land on a page were you can download them. Let me know if you have continued trouble.

  20. Panjabu

Hi do you have it in metric dimensions ???

  21. Neko

Can it be built in a modular way? I mean, like building parts (and usable) of the whole swing set and putting them together later on or once you start you have to deal with the whole thing at once

  22. Sam (verified owner)

We are about 60% of the way through building this set and the kids can’t wait for us to be done! Lumber/screws/joist hangers for us was ~$2k from our local lumber yard. Since everyone is home (and apparently building play sets) it was hard to find slides so we went to local recreation outlet. We did racing slides ($199/each) out of the front of the two towers and are doing a 7’ tube slide ($1300) on the side platform. We went with the higher railing on top for added safety. I agree with Tyler, the wood from local lumber yard is waayyy better than what you would find in any kit. Tyler, thanks so much for these plans and please post pics of playsets built from them.

    • DIYTyler

      Sam,
Am so glad you’re enjoying the build and it’s going well. Have never thought of posting the pictures here for all the sets that folks have built, what a great idea!

Hundreds of people have built this, crazy to think that. Please send me some pictures when you’re done and I wills tart with yours!

  23. Jen

Is it possible to build without the roofed tower on the left and the extra tube slide on the right and it still be sturdy with the current plans? My kids are older and not into slides, plus trying to reduce the overall size (& cost) without compromising on the swings. They will love the monkey bars, swings, rope ladder and climbing wall.

  24. Eric (verified owner)

    Love the design!

The plans say 24 right angle joist hangers. Is this a typo? Shouldn’t it be 4?

    • DIYTyler

      Eric,
If you’re asking about the 24 right angle brackets there are indeed 24. QTY 10 for each of the two stairs and QTY 4 for the bridge.

  25. Anthony Mcinnis (verified owner)

    I just purchased these Tyler.
    Its incredible. Thank you.

I was wondering if the Bridge/Monkey Bar Assembly can be longer.

Rather then the Bridge/Monkey Bar being 4-4X6X12, can it be 4-4X6X16?

    • DIYTyler

      Anthony,
It would be an easy change. 100% your call though, that is quite a bit of horizontal space out there that is not supported.

  26. JOHN KAREEM

Hi tyler. the swing set looks amazing. i definitely will be purchasing this plan. i have a bit of a grade in my backyard though. how can i modify plan to ensure a structurally sound finished product?

    • DIYTyler

Others have built one tower a bit taller or shorter depending on what works best. The plans call for you to cut about 2ft off the 4×4 of the towers so you have a bit of room to work with.

  27. Anthony Mcinnis (verified owner)

Thanks Tyler maybe 16′ is too long.
What about making two forts versus just one side being a fort.
    Did you consider that?
I love that the instructions make for modular construction.

  28. Thy Nguyen

    Hi Tyler,
Great build and love the videos. I would like to build this for my daughter but i’m working with a 24′ x 20′ footprint. What’s the dimension of your plans? I figure if it is too big I can reduce the bridge length and remove the twisty slide.

    Thanks,
    Thy

I bought the plans and built the worlds greatest swing set with a few modifications. First and foremost, thank you Tyler for putting these plans together and also only charging $15. My kids love the swing set and it truly was not too hard to build. It probably took me about 50 or 60 man hours to build. As far as modifications are concerned I decided to do the following: 1) extend the tube slide bridge to 8 feet and add a tire swing underneath of this section; 2) I made my rock climbing wall slightly angled and used the little fake rock holds which I bought on amazon 3) I changed the location of the steps on the first floor to allow me to add a little section of railing on the second floor so I didn’t just have a hole where the kids could easily fall down; 4) I used plywood for my roof and added shingles to it. Some of the more difficult items were cutting the risers for the steps; I realized after the fact that the 30 degree measurement goes for not only the bottom cut, but the top cut as well, that would have made things a lot more clear. Another tough thing for me was getting everything level because I built mine on a little bit of a sloped area. I also put the 4×6’s up for the bridge one at a time and then inserted the monkey bars after the fact; this avoided me from having to lift a lot of weight for the entire constructed bridge. I also did something a little different for the tube slide; I started at the top and attached one piece at a time to the swing set, it went very smoothly and it took my wife and I a little over 3 hours from start to finish (opening box to kids sliding down) for the tube slide construction. The swing set is amazing and I really do appreciate it Tyler.

    Hi Tyler!

I purchased this plan, but I have a question. How do you install the post to the ground? Do you install with concrete? How deep the post should be inside ground? OR do you just anchor the post?

Thanks for your help answering my question!

  31. Justin nash (verified owner)

I’m in the process of building this. The drawings are fantastic and very easy to follow. I have built it slightly out of sequence which helped me since I’m building it 100% by myself. I would like to make the following suggestions.
    – Ensure you level your area prior. You need the towers to be level and square with each other
    – Build the towers without any flooring, level them and square them with each other. This will be the last you will be able to move them.
    – Use a laser or some means to align the towers and space the bases before assembling any vertical pieces.
    – I am substituting rope for the railings on the bridge.
    Also contimplating cedar siding.

    Thanks for the plans!!

  32. Han (verified owner)

Thank you for the plan. The kids absolutely love it. I do have one question for you: did you seal the wood? Do you think it’s necessary?

  33. Mary collins

Are you still selling plans for the
    “greatest playset”?

  34. Devon Moore (verified owner)

Thanks for the plans. I made some modifications to suit what I was looking for but appreciated the plans non the less. Mine is now fully built and my kids love it.

  35. Lewis williams (verified owner)

I bought the plans and now I’ve seem to have lost them…I have the hard copy but it’s up at camp and I wanted to try and order the slides and stuff now….is there anyway you could send me the material list again…my name is Lewis Williams and I got the plans a a month or two ago

  36. DIYTyler

    Marshall,
Please send me an email with a bit more information on the order, I cannot find it at the moment. DIYTyler@gmail.com

  37. Ananda Abey

I am from Australia, I watch your video on my FB page, it is great, you are very talented. Thanks for sharing 🙂 🙂

  38. Paul

    Hello,

I’m interested in purchasing the pdf. But my yard isn’t big enough for the entire set. Wanted to know your thoughts on if I just built one of the towers instead of the entire swing set. Would the one tower stand on its own, or would it be in danger of tipping/falling unless it wasn’t bolted to anything (for instance like to a nearby tree?)

    Thanks!

  39. Andrew

Hello. I am planning to buy these plans and build this swingset for our daughter come spring. Do the plans come with a materials list as well.

    • DIYTyler

      Yep, everything you need…won’t disappoint!

  40. Scott Craven

    Hey Tyler,

I’m strongly considering purchasing these plans and building this, there is one hesitation/question I have. The only area I have to put this in my yard is on about a 5.5% slope across the length of the swing set (drops 30 inches over 45 feet). I’ve looked into getting the area leveled but it would likely cost several grand. Do you think it’s feasible to build this (and use it) on a slight slope lengthwise? If so, I’m guessing I would want to at least level the soil underneath the base of the two towers? Thank you for any guidance, and great job with the design here!

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi,
I just bought these plans and I’m pricing out the towers separately so my wife doesn’t kill me over the Home Depot bill. I had a quick question. In your plans you call for a .5x5x72 deck boards. I checked Home Depot and Lowes and all they have are 1/2×6 deck boards. Even then, they only come in 4′ lengths. THe closest I could find were 1x6x8.

    • DIYTyler

It will be a doosey of a bill especially considering the times! Recommend checking with a lumber yard if you can?

I think you’re talking about the fence boards vs deck boards? I saw them at the Depot the other day and they are still 72″!

  42. Zac

Hi I’m from Australia and was wondering if you have the plans in metric. As it would save me any bad conversion mistakes. And if it does come in metric hoe do I pay for that version?

  43. Jonathan Hogan (verified owner)

Great work. What exactly is the length of the swing set without the enclosed slide? I got 23ft looking at the plans I purchased. Thinking of switching the slide to come off the front or back to fit in my backyard better.
