Frequently Asked Questions

My shop is located in an insulated shell inside a 30×40 poll barn that is on our property.

The shop is 16×30′ for a total of 480sqft. Everyone that watches the YouTube videos is always surprised that it is smaller than it seems on video.

Nope I play Engineer during the day. DIYTyler LLC is a nighttime/weekend hobby that turned business. No plans on going full time YouTuber…too volatile for us!

I have been using a Lumix G7 for about 5 years now. (Have broken one lens so far, knock on wood!)

I also have a GoPro Hero 8 Black with the media module. From my experience with this version of GoPro I would not recommend it.

I have a Rode video mic Pro that mounts onto the hotshoe of the camera.

I also have a Rode wire mic but I don’t use that very often, only when I know I will be talking for longer sections of time or far away from the camera.

I use Davinci Resolve. Used Magix Movie Studio Platinum for years but after getting past the learning curve of Resolve it is MUCH more capable and…best of all….it’s free!

Also switched to a M2 MacBook Pro after years of editing on a PC. Such an incredible difference in render times and smooth scrolling through the timeline.

Please…! Hear this a lot in YouTube comments. Yes I have a lot of tools but do you need them to make stuff, no. Having the tools allows me to build faster which is important for me as I have limited shop time…..I do have a job, family and other hobbies I dabble with!
